Bequests & Planned Gifts

Through a bequest or planned gift, you can make a transformative difference to Montrealers in need. You may make a bequest or gift to NOVA Montréal through your estate by including a provision in your will or living trust. You can leave a percentage of your estate or a specific dollar amount, a paid-up life insurance policy, securities or property, which will reduce the tax payable on your estate.

Make a Gift of Life Insurance

You can support NOVA Montréal by giving a gift of life insurance in one of the following ways:

  • Transfer ownership of an existing, fully paid life insurance policy to NOVA Montréal and receive a tax receipt.

  • Apply for a new life insurance policy, with NOVA Montréal as its owner and receive a tax receipt for the premiums paid.

  • Make NOVA Montréal the beneficiary of a life insurance policy and your estate will receive a tax receipt for the death benefits.

NOVAMontréal recommends that you consult your financial and/or legal advisors before making a bequest or planned gift. The general information on our website is not intended to replace professional financial and/or legal advice.

You can support NOVA Montréal by giving a gift of publicly traded securities such as stocks, bonds, and mutual funds. If you leave publicly traded securities to NOVA Montréal through your will, your taxable capital gains may be eliminated and your estate many claim a tax credit of up to 100% of your net annual income in the year of death and the year preceding. You will receive a charitable tax receipt for the fair market value of the security.
