Registered Nurse/Case Manager

Status: Permanent, Casual
Hours of Work: Part time (4 days/per week) and/or on-call (weeknights) and weekends, subject to change based on operational requirements
Location: In-home nursing care; must be available to travel to clients in our territory (please refer to map in “Contact Us”)

The Registered Nurse/Care Manager’s primary responsibility is overseeing the interdisciplinary plan of care for a patient. This mid-management position includes management and administrative duties as well.


  • Establishes objectives for client care based on the initial and ongoing assessments of the client’s need
  • Provides safe, comprehensive nursing care based on scientific principles based on the standards of practice of the Order of Nurses of Quebec, the ethical and legal boundaries established by the Provincial and Federal legislations, and the policies and procedures of NOVA Montréal
  • In collaboration with other members of the health professional team and NOVA Home Health Aides, the Nurse Case Manager works to maximize the well-being of the client, in accordance with the needs requested by the client and/or their family
  • Re-evaluates and updates the initial care plan based on their observations of the client and family
  • Plans, organizes and sets priorities for daily activities in a manner that effectively utilizes their time, energy and skills to complete required tasks in the allotted time
  • Arranges for the use of equipment and supplies as needed by the client
  • Acts as a liaison with other medical partners to facilitate the delivery of supplemental services available to the client
  • Knowledgeable about community resources and acts as a client advocate assisting in obtaining required services
  • Provides health techniques for families and individual clients
  • Documents all nursing actions and decisions accurately in patient records
  • Attends regular NOVA team meetings and actively participates in discussions and workshops pertinent to the job
  • Completes and submits required reports to the organization in a timely manner
  • Other tasks as assigned by the Executive Director


  • Nursing diploma or degree from a recognized College or University
  • Baccalaureate Degree or Diploma in Nursing specialized in Palliative or Gerontology an asset
  • Current registration with the OIIQ
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification
  • Fluently Bilingual
  • Minimum 3 years recent nursing experience in Palliative Care required
  • Experience working with youth and elderly or relevant nursing field an asset
  • Must have a valid driver’s license

Director of Development (Fundraising)

Status: Part-time, Permanent
Hours: Flexible schedule. Occasional evenings and weekends will be required.

Recognized as a pioneer of home health care services, NOVA Montréal is currently seeking an experienced fundraising professional to position NOVA Montreal for future growth in the industry by securing financial support from private and public funding sources.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Development’s primary responsibilities include:

  • Providing strategic leadership and support to the Executive Director and members of the Board regarding fund development strategies (i.e. fundraising plans and budgets)
  • Developing and managing funding projects in the areas of annual giving, major gifts, planned giving and stewardship to secure funds from major and potential donors (individuals, foundations and corporations)
  • Researching and soliciting government and prospect sources of financial support by submitting funding proposals and grant applications
  • Leading special event campaigns on a variety of scales
  • Producing fundraising communication, including proposals, reports, material for special events, annual newsletters and other mailings for fundraising appeals
  • Maintaining comprehensive records in the Donor Perfect database and filing system, and administering donor correspondence and receipts, with the use of volunteers
  • Responsible for the content management of NOVA Montréal’s social media and website, as well as NOVA Montréal’s fundraising platforms (e.g. Canada Helps)
  • Building and managing a network of fundraising volunteers, jointly with the Board members
  • Participating in community and networking events to build relationships with community stakeholders
  • Other tasks as required by the Executive Director and Board


  • Minimum five years of related experience, preferably with knowledge of the philanthropic landscape of Montreal, or the equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Proficient communication skills (verbal and written) in English and French
  • Autonomous, self-starter able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Experience working with Board of Directors
  • Strong positive work ethic, combined with sound leadership, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with Donor databases (Donor Perfect an asset)
  • Current knowledge on legislation and ethical practices pertaining to fundraising (e.g. Canada Revenue Agency)

Home Health Aide

Recognized as a pioneer of home healthcare services, NOVA Montréal is currently recruiting for permanent/casual Home Health Aide positions.

In accordance with NOVA Montréal’s policies and procedures, and under the direction of the Registered Nurse/Case Manager, the Home Health Aide will:

  • Assist with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene services (bathing, dressing and grooming), light housekeeping services, meal services, exercise and physical assistance, companionship and mental stimulation, where applicable
  • Administer prescribed and prepared oral medications as directed by the RN/Case Manager
  • Maintain records of the client’s condition, and report any health-related changes to the RN/Case Manager in a timely manner
  • Provide clients and their families with support and basic instructions on independent living and adaptation to disability or illness


  • Health Care Aide certificate or equivalent required
  • PDSB and CPR certificates required
  • Minimum 1 year of recent experience working with elderly or disabled persons, preferably in home care assistance
  • Palliative care experience is an asset
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English or French. Bilingualism is an asset.
  • Must be available minimum 3 days in the workweek in addition to weekends or alternating weekends. May be required to work day/evening and/or nights
  • Must have access to reliable transportation
  • Must be able to commit to an ongoing schedule, while able to be flexible and adaptable to changing work environment
  • Must be punctual, with a good attendance record
  • Satisfactory medical examination and police record check
  • Must have a compassionate and caring demeanor
